The tear down continues.
I have found a guy or two to help work on the bike. I am going to call one of them later today. This past weekend I bought a new throttle and grips for the bike since the old ones were cracked and torn. I spent a considerable amount of time on Sunday sanding rust off the bike and wiping it down to find other rust spots and what not. I took out all the electrical as well. I wish I could strip it down just to the frame and even remove the engine and wheels but I’d need something to assist in pulling the engine out and it might just be easier to wait for this mechanic to do it. The frame will need to be repainted. I want to check the back brakes to see how they look but I suspect like the rest of the bike that the have been drained of fluids. I was trying to make the guy at a bike shop understand that I wanted to replace the front brakes even though the pads where fine. I want to eventually update the brakes and suspension as well as put LED lights for all the signals and new speedometer and odometer. I ordered new 4-1 pipes for the bike which I am excited to see. I think my next steps are the following:
1. Find and purchase a new seat.2. sent bike to shop to have rear frame welded to fit seat. Have brackets add for new seat.3. Have shop inspect bike to make sure there isn’t anything crazy missing or wrong./4. Strip bike down to frame and have repainted. 5. reassemble engine and wheels 6. work on anything that mechanic noticed that HAS to be fixed7. work on electrical and reinstall8. make rear and front fender9. paint fenders, headlight housing, and tank
While that is going on I will get my turn signals and drill holes in the handlebar and wire the end bar turn signal and put on the new throttle, grips, and mirrors. I also need to get new foot rests. Find and buy speedometer and odometer. I want to eventually update the shocks and brakes so I could also do that at that time. But those are not HAVE to haves.
